New future-oriented plant and control systems enable steady growth at Acino Pharma AG

The pharmaceutical company Acino, with a global product portfolio of over 2,000 products for more than 90 countries, is growing steadily. In order to increase storage capacity and handling performance, as well as to increase system availability, the company is investing in future-oriented system modernization, including expansion, at its site in Aesch, which has a production portfolio of 300 products for more than 25 countries. For this purpose, seven high-performance, double-deep, aisle-bound, automated MASTer 2024 pallet stacker cranes, new conveyor technology, loading buffers, a pallet changer and the innovative logOS software suite from Stöcklin were chosen.
As with the first modernization in 2009, Stöcklin will implement this modernization and expansion in stages during ongoing operations. It is scheduled from November 2024 to February 2026.

With the new high-performance system and control technology as well as the conversion from a single-deep to a double-deep warehouse, an increase in storage capacity from 8,800 pallet spaces to approx. 13,200 pallet spaces is planned, as well as an increase in handling capacity from currently approx. 30 pallets per hour to at least 100 pallets per hour.

Significantly higher system availability and sustainable efficiency will be achieved by replacing the two single-deep curve walker systems with the installation of seven double-deep, aisle-bound MASTer 2024 automated pallet racking systems from Stöcklin.

"We are delighted that Acino Pharma AG has chosen us again. We are happy to carry out this open-heart surgery, i.e. the step-by-step expansion and modernization, including the removal of the old technology during ongoing operations. Almost everything is produced at our Laufen Technology Center - in the immediate vicinity of Acino Pharma AG. This allows us to implement our usual flexible solutions with guaranteed Swiss quality and reliability." Urs Hasler, Stöcklin project manager responsible for Acino Pharma AG.
