As general contractor, Stoecklin planned and implemented the new warehouse and distribution center of Conservas La Costeña in Mexico City. The high-quality automation systems from Stoecklin increases the throughput capacity of the center to 260 pallets per hour.
The Stoecklin concept guarantees the best possible performance values and high efficiency in the smallest possible space. Various solution variants were tested for functionality and performance using material flow simulations.
Eight MASTer 40T double-mast storage and retrieval machines, one MASTer 24T and one BOXer 18T storage and retrieval machine. Conveying and storage technology (e.g. pallet conveyor technology with transfer carriages and vertical conveyors), logOS equipment and material flow control, warehouse management.
The high degree of automation enables 260 pallets of finished goods leave the warehouse and distribution center in Mexico City every hour, which is operated at full capacity for ten hours a day, six days a week.
La Costeña uses the Stoecklin energy concept. It saves energy, protects the environment and conserves natural resources. A 3D visualization system is also installed. With this powerful tool, the extensive plant can be optimally monitored.
Conservas La Costeña, is a leading manufacturer of Mexican packaged foods and chili products. The company was looking for a concept for its new warehouse and distribution center in Mexico City that would guarantee the best possible performance values and high efficiency in the smallest possible space. The company received support from the intralogistics experts at Stoecklin AG. With their support, the highly automated system went into operation after 14 months of construction.
After production, the finished goods pass through a connecting tunnel and, following a successful contour check, are transported via vertical conveyors to the storage level. Two gantry robots are used for fully automatic warehouse picking. A transfer carriage equipped with telescopic forks travels over a length of 43 m, supplying the picking area with the required goods, transporting finished order pallets and supplying the picking area with empty load carriers. If an order contains individual containers, these can be picked onto special load carriers from the small parts warehouse and later fed to the order pallets. Container picking is connected to an upstream BOXer small parts storage and retrieval unit, whose container replenishment also functions fully automatically from the warehouse picking system. As soon as a picking order is completed, the pallets are automatically wrapped and transported to goods issue with a corresponding barcode. The modularly designed Stoecklin logOS WMS is specially tailored to the requirements of La Costeña and communicates directly with SAP. The system covers the storage location management and the highly complex material flow processes as well as the entire picking processes.
Conservas La Costeña can operate a high throughput on a permanent basis thanks to the very high degree of automation of the new storage and distribution center. The system runs reliably at full load for ten hours a day, six days a week and the hourly throughput is 260 pallets.
